The OMI/Excelsior Beacon is a community center dedicated to improving the lives of children, youth, and adults by providing educational, recreational, enrichment and supportive services. Here’s a list of all our after school and community programs for students and their families.

Youth Programs

Our Youth Programs are based on youth development principles that promote the healthy development of children and youth. We offer the following array of programs and services in a fun and safe learning environment:

Wellness Services

The Beacon Wellness Program, Tailor Made, celebrates the holidays with a family potluck

The Wellness Service Program supports the physical and behavioral health needs of youth living in Oceanview, Merced, Ingleside and Excelsior neighborhoods. We provide comprehensive individual and group services in the following ares:

• Substance Abuse Prevention & Treatment
• Mental Health and Trauma Counseling
• Case Management
• Gang Prevention & Intervention
• Life Skills/Empowerment Groups
• Information and Referral Services
• Parent/Family Support

Our Wellness Services focuses on helping youth make healthy choices in their life by providing opportunities for youth develop trusting relationship with caring Beacon staff and volunteers. Our goal is to help youth realize their strengths while addressing their challenges.

Community Programs

The Beacon hosts a variety of cultural and community events throughout the year.

Our Community Programs provide special events, parent workshops, recreational and enrichment classes for adults and parents living or working in the community. We also serve as a local resource and facility for other community groups to extend services to the neighborhood.
